The local area known as ‘The Saints’, is the probably the best kept secret of Suffolk. The countryside is full of history and wildlife, with many peaceful walks and cycle routes throughout the ‘Saints’ villages - each with their own parish Church and ancient common or village green. Ilketshall St Margaret is a small village with a Saxon round towered Church and just a cluster of cottages.
There are several nearby market towns (Bungay 3 miles, Halesworth 7 miles Southwold 13 miles) for shopping, browsing antiques or just a bite to eat; National Trust houses and gardens in Suffolk and Norfolk; RSPB Reserve at Minsmere on the coast near Southwold and unspoilt seaside towns and villages to visit on the coast - Aldeburgh, Southwold, Thorpeness, Dunwich and Orford being the most popular.
Bustling Great Yarmouth and Pleasurewood Hills near Lowestoft have plenty to offer children for a days outing or you could hire a day boat for a trip on the Norfolk Broads. Bungay has an indoor heated swimming pool with water slide and gym
